If West point is code White until - stated time/all day:
The West Point snow policy is in effect until the stated time, or all day. Employees, who might be prevented from reporting to work should be granted annual leave, accrued compensatory time or Leave Without Pay if they prefer. Employees still need to contact their supervisor for approval. Specific procedures for requesting leave in these circumstances are at the discretion of the supervisors of each activity on West Point.

If West point is code Red until - stated time/all day:
The West Point snow policy is in effect until the stated time, or all day. Supervisors will excuse absences without charge to leave for all employees affected whether or not leave was previously approved. Employees who do not report for work by the announced time will be charged leave for the remainder of their absence.

If West point is code Red all day:
Only employees in emergency positions should report to work. Employees in non-emergency positions should not report to work until their next regularly scheduled workday.

If you have a question about your reporting time to work, contact your supervisor.

    1. Good morning and thank you for your interest in West Point. This page is updated whenever the information changes. Normally, a Code White or Red is decided by the USAG West Point Commander and the information is posted here by 5 a.m. the day of the event, but it could be in the middle of the day depending on the situation. When the Code White or Red is over, the information will then change again.

The best thing to do is to subscribe to notifications and monitor this page on days of inclement weather.

We hope this helps! Please be careful out there today, it is very cold and icy.

  3. Just a quick question for you. My daughter works at the ski slope and I know there has been considerable confusion last year when a code red has been called by your office and she was still told by her supervisor, Rick Alley, to report to work as usual because the ski slope is exempt from this policy. Is this true? If so, should parents, like myself, receive some type of letter stating this policy? And finally, why is the ski slope exempt from code reds issued by your office? I figured if the rest of the staff at West Point are told to stay home because of conditions and personal safety, why is my child less worthy of this consideration along with the rest of the staff at the ski slope?

  4. Each directorate on West Point is given the ability to decide which community services are to be open or closed when a Code decision is made.

  5. So what you are saying, individual people and directorates can override the Garrison Commander's decision if they see fit. I did contact both Rick Ally, Peter Spinning and Chris Remillard, who stated that he was the overall authority for ski, and all said they were exempt from code red. From what I understand, after speaking with others here at West Point, that an exemption letter has to be given to every employee stating that they are essential employees at West Point. None of this has been taken by MWR. They keep ignoring my request for clarification so I am now coming to you for clarification. Is the Ski Slope exempt from Code Red? And if so why and when will my child and us, her parents, be given the proper letter (notification), stating that her position as a Recreation Aid at the ski slope is an essential personnel and must report to work as scheduled? Even my position, and I am a GS-9 working with the Corps of Cadets, is not essential and don't have to report to work.

MWR just keeps ignoring me and I am just trying to get clarification without rocking the boat for myself and the rest of the West Point Community.

My husband and I try to stay anonymous because of the many repercussions that my happen to us and our child for rocking the boat.

  7. My crew team is supposed to use the Boathouse tomorrow evening from 6-8:30PM. Does the code white affect access to the property for the parents and rowers to get on the academy grounds and down to the boathouse?
